Staying safe while using Witness
- If someone may be checking your phone, think carefully before installing any app. A safer device — a trusted friend’s phone or a library computer — may be better for planning.
- Choose a PIN no one else knows, and don’t reuse your phone’s unlock code.
- Downloads can show in your browser history and phone’s file list. Clear them if that’s a risk for you.
- Export copies of your records and keep one somewhere safe outside your phone, such as with an advocate.
- A local advocate can help you plan. In the US, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
